Our next training in Family-Based Treatment (FBT) will be held at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, on September 13th and 14th, 2010. This training will be presented by Dr. Daniel le Grange and Dr. Renee Hoste. Registration for this training is currently available here on this site.

 

This two day training will be the first step in the certification toward becoming a FBT therapist. The cost for this training will be $495. Trainees are eligible for a discounted registration fee of $250. Please see the institute brochure for further details.

 

The first training for 2011 will be held at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California in February, 2011. This training will be presented by Dr. Jim Lock and Dr. Kara Fitzpatrick.

There are no CME or CEU credits for this course. Attendees will be receiving training from experts in Family-Based Treatment for use in therapeutic practice or expansion of knowledge of therapeutic approaches for eating disorders.

 

Information on Certification

 

The following steps are required for certification in Family Based Treatment in Anorexia Nervosa:

  • Complete introductory 1.5 day training at Chicago or Stanford
  • Complete 25 hours of supervision with an Institute faculty member (Renee Hoste, PhD, E-mail: rhoste@yoda.bsd.uchicago.edu); and Angela Celio Doyle, Ph.D. (E-mail: acdoyle@uchicago.edu) at Chicago; Kara Fitzpatrick, PhD, (E- mail: fitzpatk@stanford.edu) at Stanford; or Katharine Loeb (E-mail: katharine.loeb@mssm.edu at Mount Sinai School of Medicine). The rate for supervision is $180 per hr. This supervision will cover 3 cases throughout all three treatment phases. The use of DVDs, audio recordings and telephone supervision will be utilized. 
  • A 1 day advanced workshop will be available to FBT certified therapists for advanced training and quality control. For those who wish to become a FBT-BN therapist a half day module will be added to the 1 day advanced training.
