UPCOMING WORKSHOPs

One-day ARFID Workshop

Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is an eating disorder that typically onsets in childhood. There are no currently strongly supported evidence-based treatments for this disorder. Family-based Treatment (FBT) has been shown in case series and small randomized clinical trials to be superior to usual care. FBT-ARFID includes the same fundamental assumptions as FBT for Anorexia Nervosa (AN) and Bulimia Nervosa (BN), but because of the younger age of onset, different clinical presentations, and commonly co-occurring co-morbidities, FBT has been substantially modified and adapted for this disorder. This one-day workshop addresses the key differences in FBT-ARFID compared to FBT-AN or FBT-BN and provides role plays, clinical vignettes, and case studies to illustrate the approach.

The training is based on the published treatment manual for FBT-ARFID: Family-Based Treatment for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder by James Lock, Routledge, 2022. All participants are encouraged to read this book prior to the training.

Participants in this workshop should have previously completed FBT-AN or FBT-BN training to be eligible to undertake this training.

  • December 6th from 8am-4pm Pacific time (10am CST)

  • Presenter: Aileen Whyte, PhD

  • Prerequisite: completion of two-day FBT-AN Workshop
